RRB Group D Selection Process

The recruitment selection methodology for various Group D posts encompasses the following stages: 

  1. Computer-Based Test- CBT will assess your knowledge in various subjects like Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, and General Awareness.
  2. Physical Efficiency Test- PET is designed to evaluate your physical fitness and includes tests like running, long jump, and high jump.
  3. Medical Examination- A medical examination will also be conducted to assess your overall health and fitness for the job.
  4. Document Verification- To ensure that all the information provided in your application is accurate.

RRB Group D 2026 Pattern & Syllabus

Railway Administration retains the right to administer the CBT in either single or multi-stage formats. Candidates who qualify in the CBT must clear a Physical Efficiency Test (PET), followed by Document Verification (DV) and a thorough Medical Examination. Please note that a negative marking scheme applies, deducting 1/3rd of the allotted marks for every incorrect response.

The minimum qualifying percentage thresholds for shortlisting are 40% for Unreserved (UR), 40% for EWS, and 30% for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), SC, and ST candidates.

RRB Group D Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility criteria for RRB Group D are determined by nationality, educational credentials, and age limits. Only applicants who satisfy the RRB Group D Eligibility Criteria outlined below will be considered for the recruitment process. Additionally, a recent update specifies that CCAA-certified candidates are eligible to apply under the Railway Group D CCAA Recruitment 2026 framework.

Nationality

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

a. a citizen of India, or
b. a citizen of Nepal, or
c. a subject of Bhutan, or
d. a Tibetan refugee who arrived in India before January 1st, 1962, with the intent of permanent settlement, or
e. a person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries (Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam) with the intent of permanent settlement in India.
f. Provided that candidates falling under categories (b), (c), (d), and (e) must possess a valid certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India. 

Education Qualification 

  • Candidates with a 10th pass or ITI or equivalent or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT are eligible to apply for the RRB Group D 2026 Exam.
  • Candidates with Course Completed Act Apprentices/ITI for the post of Level-1 unless otherwise specified.
  • Those awaiting the results of their final examination of the prescribed minimum educational/technical qualification are not eligible to apply.
  • Candidates who have completed Course Complete Act Apprentices from any trade.

Medical Standards

Candidates shortlisted for Document Verification (DV) must successfully clear the Railway Administration's medical fitness assessments to verify they are physically equipped to perform their designated duties.

Application Fee

Aspirants applying for RRB Group D Recruitment 2026 must pay the mandatory application fee listed in the table below. Payments can be securely processed online via debit cards, credit cards, or net banking.

Refund Amount (On Appearing For CBT)

  • For GEN/OBC: Out of this fee of Rs 500 an amount of Rs 400 shall be refunded duly deducting bank charges, on appearing in 1st Stage CBT.
  • For SC/ST/PWD/Women/Ex-Sm/Transgender/Minorities/Economically Backward: This fee of Rs 250 shall be refunded duly deducting bank charges as applicable on appearing in 1st Stage CBT.

  2. 10th certificate or ITI certificate for educational qualification proof.
  3. Government-issued ID proof (Aadhar Card, PAN Card, etc.).

Steps to Apply for Railway RRB Group D Recruitment 2026

Candidates can submit their online applications for the RRB Group D Recruitment 2026 by adhering to the steps specified below. 

  1. Visit the official website http://www.rrbcdg.gov.in/.
  2. Click on the ‘New Registration’ link.
  3. Register for the exam and submit the required details like name, date of birth, father’s name, mother’s name, Aadhaar number, SSLC/Matric registration number, year of passing, mobile number, email ID and then submit the registration form.
  4. Upon registration, candidates need to verify their email ID and mobile number through OTP.
  5. Login on the home page using the registration number and password.
  6. In Part I of the application page, candidates had to provide the details of educational qualification, community, gender, religion, Ex-Servicemen, CCAA, Minority, Economically Backward Class Age Relaxation and other details.
  7. In Part II of the application page, candidates had to indicate his/her priority/preference for the posts.
  8. On completion of application details, candidates were redirected to the payment page using Online Net Banking/Credit Card/Debit Card/UPI and Offline Challan.
  9. Candidates were required to choose the exam language.
  10. Candidates had to fill in the details of a valid photo ID card.
  11. Enter bank details to get the refund of fees.
  12. Candidates had to upload their scanned images of photographs and signatures as per the format and SC/ST candidates were required to upload the category certificates.
  13. Candidates had to agree to the terms and conditions and submit the application form.

RRB Group D Salary Structure

Selected candidates under the RRB Group D recruitment will start at a basic pay of Rs. 18,000. Alongside basic salary, recruits are entitled to multiple allowances, including Dearness Allowance (DA), Daily Allowance, Transport Allowance, House Rent Allowance (HRA), Night Duty Allowance, Medical Benefits, and Overtime Allowance. Consequently, the total in-hand monthly salary for RRB Group D positions ranges from Rs. 22,500 to Rs. 25,380.
