Educational Qualification

UPTET Eligibility for Paper I (Primary-Level Teachers): Applicants must satisfy any one of the following criteria to qualify for Paper I:

- Candidates must hold a graduation degree in any discipline from a UGC-recognized university or institution, followed by a mandatory two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (DElEd). Those currently in their final year of DElEd are also eligible to apply.

- Candidates must possess a graduation degree followed by a Basic Training Certificate (BTC) obtained through distance education. Final-year students are also eligible to apply.

- Candidates must secure a graduation or post-graduation degree with a minimum aggregate of 50 percent marks, alongside currently pursuing a Bachelor of Education (BEd).

- Candidates must hold a graduation or post-graduation degree with at least 45 percent marks, along with the successful completion of a BEd program.

- Candidates must have completed their graduation alongside a BTC in Urdu. Final-year students are likewise eligible to apply.

- Candidates must possess a graduation degree along with a teaching diploma from Aligarh Muslim University.

- Candidates must have completed their graduation and acquired the Moavill-E-Urdu degree prior to August 8, 1997.

- Candidates must have passed Class 12 with a minimum of 50 percent marks, coupled with a four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (BElEd) degree.

UPTET Eligibility for Paper II (Upper Primary-Level Teachers): Applicants must fulfill any one of the criteria listed below to qualify for Paper II:

- Candidates must complete their graduation from a recognized college or university, accompanied by a two-year DElEd (BTC) program.

- Candidates must hold a graduation or post-graduation degree with at least 50 percent marks, along with a BEd or BEd Special Education qualification. Final-year students in these programs are also eligible to apply.

- Candidates must have passed Class 12 with a minimum of 50 percent marks, along with a four-year BScEd or BSc BEd degree from a UGC- or NCTE-recognized institution. Final-year students are eligible to apply as well.

- Candidates must have passed Class 12 with at least 50 percent marks, paired with a four-year BElEd degree. Final-year students are also welcome to apply.

- Candidates must possess a graduation degree with a minimum of 50 percent marks, alongside a one-year BEd program. Final-year BEd students are likewise eligible.

Step 1: Complete One-Time Registration (OTR) OTR is a mandatory Aadhaar-based prerequisite that all candidates must complete prior to filling out the application form.

UP TET Selection Process 2026

The UPTET selection process comprises the following consecutive stages:

Step 1 - The UPTET exam features two separate papers. Paper I is intended for candidates aiming to teach Classes 1 to 5, whereas Paper II is for those wishing to teach Classes 6 to 8. Candidates aspiring to teach all grades from 1 to 8 must appear for both papers.

Step 2 - The UPTET result is declared by UPBEB on the official exam website. Candidates who secure a minimum of 60 percent marks in the written examination are declared UPTET qualified.

Step 3 - Candidates who pass the written test are awarded an eligibility certificate by UPBEB, making them eligible to apply for teaching vacancies across schools in Uttar Pradesh. The validity of the UPTET certificate has been extended to a lifetime, replacing the previous five-year validity period.
