Educational Qualifications

For most posts included in the Combined State/Upper Subordinate Services Examination, candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree from any recognized University or an equivalent qualification by the final application deadline. Specific post-wise educational qualifications are detailed below:

4Law Officer

Candidates applying for direct recruitment to the post of Law Officer must fulfill the following qualifications:-

(i) A Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized University established by law in India.

(ii) Registration with the concerned State Bar Council or an affiliated Bar Association recognized by the Bar Council of India, alongside a two-year practice experience certificate
issued or certified by the Bar Council/Bar Association.

5Technical Assistant (Geology)

Essential Qualifications:-

(I) A Master’s degree with at least 50 percent marks in Geology or Applied Geology, or a Diploma in Applied Geology from the Indian School of Mines and Applied Geology, Dhanbad.

(ii) Preferential Qualification:- Research experience or field training conducted by the Geological Survey of India.

6Technical Assistant (Geophysics)Post graduate degree with at least 50 percent mark’s in Geophysics, Applied Geophysics, Geology or applied Geology (with physics, Mathematics at the B.Sc. level) from a university established by law in India.
7Tax Assessment OfficerGraduation Degree in Commerce or Economics with 55% marks from a university recognized by Law in India.

UPPSC 2026 Selection Procedure

Both the Prelims and Mains phases of the UP PCS 2026 exam will be conducted offline across various centers in the state. The UPPSC 2026 PCS selection process features 3 stages:

1. Prelims (Objective / MCQ-based)

3. Personality Test (Interview)

UPPSC 2026 Exam Pattern

The UPPSC PCS is a multi-tier examination requiring qualified candidates to clear the Prelims before advancing to the Mains and the final Interview (Personality Test) round.

Prelims Exam Pattern

  • The Prelims exam of UPPSC PCS 2026 is an offline mode of examination, with 2 papers in different shifts
  • The total marks allotted for each paper is 200, and the total time allotted for the completion of each Paper of the Prelims exam is 2 hours
  • The total number of questions in Paper-1 (General Studies I) is 150, while Paper-2 is of 100 marks.

UPPCS 2026 Salary/Pay Scale

The salary structure for posts under the combined state services ranges from Rs. 9,300–34,800 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 4,600 (excluding Naib Tehsildar, who carries a Grade Pay of Rs. 4,200) up to Rs. 15,600–39,100 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 5,400.

For the Assistant Conservator of Forest / Range Forest Officer Services Examination, the pay scale, grade pay, and post status are specified below:

Assistant Conservator of Forest – Rs. 15,600 to Rs. 39,100; Grade Pay – Rs. 5,400 (Level 10 in the pay matrix), Group “B”, Gazetted.

Range Forest Officer Services Examination – Rs. 9,300 to Rs. 34,800, Grade Pay – Rs. 4,800 (Level 8 pay matrix 47,600 – 1,51,100), Group “B”, Gazetted.
