Both the Prelims and Mains phases of the UP PCS 2026 exam will be conducted offline across various centers in the state. The UPPSC 2026 PCS selection process features 3 stages:

UPPSC 2026 Exam Pattern
The UPPSC PCS is a multi-tier examination requiring qualified candidates to clear the Prelims before advancing to the Mains and the final Interview (Personality Test) round.
Prelims Exam Pattern
- The Prelims exam of UPPSC PCS 2026 is an offline mode of examination, with 2 papers in different shifts
- The total marks allotted for each paper is 200, and the total time allotted for the completion of each Paper of the Prelims exam is 2 hours
- The total number of questions in Paper-1 (General Studies I) is 150, while Paper-2 is of 100 marks.

UPPCS 2026 Salary/Pay Scale
The salary structure for posts under the combined state services ranges from Rs. 9,300–34,800 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 4,600 (excluding Naib Tehsildar, who carries a Grade Pay of Rs. 4,200) up to Rs. 15,600–39,100 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 5,400.
For the Assistant Conservator of Forest / Range Forest Officer Services Examination, the pay scale, grade pay, and post status are specified below:
Assistant Conservator of Forest – Rs. 15,600 to Rs. 39,100; Grade Pay – Rs. 5,400 (Level 10 in the pay matrix), Group “B”, Gazetted.
Range Forest Officer Services Examination – Rs. 9,300 to Rs. 34,800, Grade Pay – Rs. 4,800 (Level 8 pay matrix 47,600 – 1,51,100), Group “B”, Gazetted.
